  1. About Asian University For Women, Bangladesh

Located in Chittagong, Bangladesh, the Asian University for Women aims to educate and empower women leaders through the transformative power of liberal arts and science education. As a part of its mission, Pine Biotech conducted a one-month Omics Logic Basic Training Program for ten undergraduate students in the bioinformatics department under the coordination of Ms. Katsuki Sakai, Managing Director, Asian University for Women Support Foundation

 

  1. Student Participation By Omics Logic Courses

During the course of their training, the students received access to the Omics Logic Learn Portal which offers a diverse range of comprehensive and up-to-date online courses on topics ranging from genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, and epigenomics to single-cell transcriptomics. 

 

For those interested to learn about the technical aspects of biomedical data analysis, the portal also offers courses on python, R programming, and machine learning. 

 

For hands-on analytical experience and practice for bioinformatics education, learners also receive access to the AI-guided and user-friendly T-BioInfo Platform that combines statistical analysis modules into bioinformatics pipelines.

From Figure 1, we can see that there was a high interest amongst the students in the following set of courses: Genomics (n = 5); Bytes and Molecules (n = 3), and R-Coding Course 1 (n = 2).

 

This was followed by other courses: Structural Biology & Cheminformatics (n = 1); BioML-Machine Learning for Biomedical Data (n = 1); Transcriptomics (n = 1); R-Coding Course 2 (n = 1); Single Cell Transcriptomics (n = 1); Metagenomics (n = 1); Genomics (n = 1), and Introduction to Bioinformatics (n = 1).

In Figure 2, we can observe that a majority of the students had achieved learn points in the range 0 - 5000 (n = 8). Finally, only one student had achieved learn points in the ranges 5000 - 10,000 (n = 1) and 10,000 - 15,000 (n = 1)

In terms of learn achievements, as observed in Figure 3, a major portion of the students had achievements in the range of 0 - 100 (n = 8). Finally, n = 1 students had the highest achievement in the ranges of 100 - 200 and 200 - 300.
